Once the site has been selected, the crew survey the area to determine its boundaries, WATTAN ALTAHADI crew goes about preparing the land:
Clearing and leveling rig land, and build the access roads.
Drilling a water well, because water is used in drilling.
Digging a reserve pit, which is used to dispose of rock cuttings and drilling mud during the drilling process, or disposed of offsite — trucked away instead of placed in a pit.
Build foundation to support a rig
Power system: set large diesel engines – burn diesel-fuel oil to provide the main source of power, set electrical generators – powered by the diesel to provide electrical power
